And that’s, NO. On the last February issue of FAST COMPANY, I found a great BMW ad that I wanted to share with y’all. I know some of you have probably see this already, but for those out there who haven’t (like moi) so here it is.
Two letters. A word that transcends every language.
A word that is simple to enunciate, but sometimes hard to say
No closes doors. But when used to break convention, it opens many more.
No, we will not compromise ideas.
No, We will not do it the way everyone else does it.
No, we will not give in to mass-market vanillaism.
At BMW our independence gives us the ability to say No for all the right reasons.
And while most companies choose to hide behind No, we see it as a way to say Yes - to ideas that inform not only our cars, but every aspect of who we are.
And then there’s the obligated car pictures, etc. etc. but again, the core message is SO VERY important these days. I can’t count the times I’ve been asked to do certain things that would potentially jeopardize an entire project, and even so the client wanted to go ahead anyways.
Here’s for the people and companies that acknowledge the power of NO.
